Tap-to-Pay Card FAQ

Tap to Pay FAQ Header - Personal Debit Card

What is a Tap Card?

The term “tap card” refers to a debit card that is equipped with the tap-to-pay feature. This is a contactless payment method that allows the user to complete their transaction by holding, or tapping (rather than inserting or swiping), their debit card near or against the payment terminal.

What if I Do Not Wish to Utilize Contactless Payment with my New Tap Debit Card?

No problem! Your debit card is still equipped with swipe and insert capabilities for payment processing.

Is Tap Payment Accepted Everywhere?

While most payment processors now have tap accessibility, not all do. Those that do will have the universal tap symbol displayed visibly: Tap to Pay Icon. This symbol can also be found on your new debit card.

Is it Possible to Accidentally Pay at a Contactless Terminal?

No. In order to complete a transaction, the merchant first needs to enter the amount for you to approve. Then, you must tap your card on the terminal, or hold the card within two inches of the terminal, until the payment is complete.

Why Should I Use Tap to Pay?

Each transaction is accompanied by a one-time security code that protects your payment information and helps reduce counterfeit fraud. Contactless payments work over a short distance, making it nearly impossible for a would-be thief to potentially steal your information. They also prevent your card from being skimmed with the traditional skimming device, since the card is not required to be inserted into the EMV card reader. It’s fast, easy, and secure!

How Can I Report My Card Lost or Stolen?

You can report your Grand Savings Bank debit card lost, stolen, or compromised in the GSB mobile app, through online banking (available 24/7), or by calling 888‑297‑3416.
